From russell at flora.ca Mon Jun 21 12:24:16 2010 From: russell at flora.ca (Russell McOrmond) Date: Mon Jun 21 12:19:47 2010 Subject: [discuss] Looking for Quebec allies in Copyright vs contract/e-commerce technical measures Message-ID: <4C1F9230.1040705@flora.ca> Last week I sent a letter to my MPP titled: Federal Bill C-32 tramples areas of provincial jurisdiction http://Fix.BillC32.ca/5156 While I would like to see all Canadians sending similar letters to their provincial representatives, I believe this is especially important in Quebec. If we can reach the National Assembly of Quebec, and hopefully through them the Bloc, to understand this issue then the most harmful aspects of C-32 will be fixed. There is a critical difference between technical measures being used by copyright holders, and being used to protect copyright. Access control or similar technical measures have no more valid reason to be in the federal Copyright act as energy policy, even if many copyright holders rely on electricity for their business models. Thank you, and hope people will get involved and help others to understand this issue. -- Russell McOrmond, Internet Consultant: Please help us tell the Canadian Parliament to protect our property rights as owners of Information Technology.
