I think familiarity with the Linux brand has helped FLOSS, at least if going
by my experience is any indication. Before I started using Ubuntu I had no
idea what FLOSS was. Now, however, I'm a big advocate and I've tried to
learn everything I can about it.
I'm still learning, actually, looking up what I can, or borrowing books from
Interlibrary loan, etc. And I have to say that I'm much more knowledgeable
about Free Libre Open Source Software now because I was able to download a
Linux product and use it, and in the process I've become familiar with the
process behind it.
