This is a key point of the politics we are involved in. ESR is seen
as the face of "Open Source" for those who don't identify with that
movement, and RMS is seen as the face of "Free Software" for those who
don't identify with that movement. Neither is really fair or accurate,
but such is life in politics :-)

Which minority? There is a minority in both "camps" that are seen to
be fueling the feud.

I sometimes say I run a GNU system, and have dropped mentioning Linux
entirely given it is the least relevant part of an overall Free Software
system.
If I had the technical time I'd be switching over to OpenSolaris
(Which will likely be GPLv3) or one of the non-Linux ports of Debian
http://www.debian.org/ports/index#nonlinux which has less of the Linux
ideology behind it.
