I think we should support, emulate and expand. We need to remind
people that the controvercy with DRM isn't about "locks put on content
owned by copyright holders", but "locks put on devices that are not
owned by copyright holders". "Defective By Design" is a very mild but
informative slogan. The reality is that "DRM is Theft", but that phrase
puts many people off who do not understand how DRM works.
We have a huge uphill battle in educating people about how DRM works,
and the underlying reason why it is controvercial (IE: it is always
controvercial when a lock is put on something without the permission of
its owner).
