Hi all:
I tried to use smartctl after the meeting - it was an "command unknown"
in Ubuntu 6.06.
After Googling it, I found
apt-get install smartmontools
retrieved the required files and allowed me to try it out. A short test
on a 200 GB drive took about a minute, the long test said it would take
70 minutes. SMART was not enabled on the drive (is now) and there was no
entry in the bios for it (Gateway AMD 3200)
