Well, unfortunately, Markbook has been purchased for my school, (and
apparently several others in the TDSB). The continued and increasing
waste of taxpayers money continues unabaited, while curriculum needs
are ignored. My classroom is in appalling condition, filled with
graffiti strewn desks, which have been ignored for years. I have 80
students at the moment, while another teacher has 14 (and about 50 of
the students I have should really be split into smaller classes
because of their needs). There are only 3 computers in my classroom,
and no printer (which has been requested numerous times...?!...sigh).
Science equipment and supplies requests are ignored. Teachers who use
the CTMI system were unable to access their files last week. Not sure
if they have them back yet, since I have no (justifiable) faith in it
and do not use it (I use my own personal Ubuntu laptop ;-). Over 100
students in a large room last week for a presentation on safety were
required to look backwards over their chairs at a TV presentation on a
27 " tv screen at the back of the room. Why is this significant?
Because they were in a room in which over $60,000 dollars had been
spent on an M$ multimedia system, with a large projection type screen,
which the teachers apparently didn't know how to operate!?
Just a few observations of what is REALLY going on in schools, despite
all the propaganda spewed out on a regular basis. Might want to chat
with the people who want to be school trustees in the upcoming
elections about this kind of thing.
